Licenses
Last updated: June 2026
This page sets out two things: the professional registration under which Bright Smile Dental operates as a dental practice, and the licensing terms for the content and assets used across this website.
Professional licensure
Bright Smile Dental and its clinicians are licensed to practice dentistry in the United States. There is no national dental license in the U.S. — dentistry is licensed and regulated separately by each state.
- Every dentist holds a current license issued by the dental board of the state in which the practice operates. A state license authorizes practice only within that state.
- Licensure requires graduation from a dental program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), a passing score on the Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE), and a state or regional clinical examination.
- Dentists who prescribe controlled substances also hold a registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
- Clinicians carry current professional liability (malpractice) insurance and complete the continuing education required to renew their state license.
License numbers and the issuing state board are available on request and can be verified through that state board’s public license lookup.
