Myth: if it does not hurt, nothing is wrong
Cavities, gum disease and even cracked teeth are usually painless until they are advanced. Pain is a late signal, not an early one. Regular checkups catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat.
Myth: harder brushing cleans better
Plaque is soft and lifts away with gentle pressure. Force only damages enamel and gums. Technique and consistency beat intensity every time.
Myth: sugar-free drinks are safe for teeth
Many sugar-free sodas and sparkling waters are highly acidic, and acid erodes enamel directly, no bacteria required. Rinse with water afterwards and avoid brushing for thirty minutes so you do not scrub softened enamel.
Myth: you do not need to floss
A brush cannot reach between teeth, which is exactly where decay and gum disease most often start. Flossing once a day removes what brushing cannot.
